Floor Light A808 was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1955 for the National Pensions Institute in Helsinki. The hand-turned shade is made of delicate, lacquered metal strips that prevent glare by diffusing light evenly. The strips form concentric circles of increasing size that combine to form an inverted bowl shape, giving the luminaire a unique and elegant appearance. The top of the stem is polished brass, which creates a beautiful contrast to the black hand-stitched leather covered stand. Floor Light A808 is available with white or brass shade.
