Declaration of Accessibility

The Artek team aspires to make its online store, shop.artek.fi (“Online Store”), accessible in accordance with the legal provisions on accessibility. Those provisions include European Directive 2019/882 on the accessibility requirements for products and services and the national implementing legislation. On this basis, the Artek team endeavours for the Online Store to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), version 2.2 at conformity level AA.

This declaration was published on June 25th, 2025 based on a self-assessment. It is updated once per year.

General Description of Services

The Online Store offers premium-quality furniture, lighting, accessories. It enables you to search for, compare and purchase products.

If you are interested in a product, you can add it to your shopping cart for purchase. Before you can order a product, you have to either register, log in , or give your contact details as a guest. The products in your shopping cart can be checked during the ordering process before you place your order. Select a payment method and a delivery address before submitting your order .

Applicable Requirements

Parts of the Website constitute "e-commerce services" within the meaning of the accessibility legislations and are subject to the relevant requirements. The specific technical measures required are largely based on the EN 301 549 standard and are guided by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2. The WCAG provide guidance on how websites can be designed to be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust for persons with disabilities. There are three levels of compliance, with Artek implementing levels A and AA in accordance with European requirements.

Status of Compliance with Accessibility Legislation 

We acknowledge the following accessibility problems of the Online Store and are working on improving them:

•  The tab order is not correctly linear on all pages.
• We currently do not offer content in simple language or sign language.
• Many images are missing alternative descriptions for screen readers. We are actively working on adding these descriptions.
• Not all text links are highlighted and/or properly or coherently focused.
• The contrast of some UI elements is not intense enough to be easily readable.
• Some forms are missing correct labels.
