Armchair 42, also known as “Little Paimio”, is a classic designed by Alvar Aalto in 1932. Originally created for the Paimio Sanatorium, this elegant armchair is crafted from form-pressed birch plywood, giving it a light and airy look. Since wood changes over time, the armrests are formed from a single piece that is then split in half, ensuring that as the armchair ages, it remains perfectly balanced. Its sleek lines and ergonomic design offer comfort and timeless beauty in equal measure.

As part of a collaboration between Artek and Ark Kollekt, two special editions of this iconic chair have been introduced: one lacquered black and one walnut-stained. These limited editions are available exclusively at Artek’s own stores and Ark Kollekt.
